Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It's learning to look past life's imperfections

Our Last Advent Project

For at least 68 Children, Christmas is not about stacks of gifts under the tree, if there is one.

The last advent Project 002

Its not about the latest electronic gadget or game, when your cold or hungry

The last advent Project 005

For 167 adults, Christmas is about being fed in the body & spirit & knowing there will be food for at least a few more weeks

The last advent Project 006 Gifts of clothing that warm the body and the soul of 51 families for another winter.

A wonderful group of people that gave so generously to those in need

For 10 years we have had the JOY and Honor of co-chairing the Advent Project at Sacred Heart. The love and generosity of the parish has moved us to tears every year. Nothing was more rewarding than the night before delivery & the visual gift of Sacred Heart being Jesus to the community.

EVERY year, the Advent Project ran on FAITH & integrity with the funds donated. We came to the painful realization we can no longer in good conscience continue to participate in the program when the parish staff chose to use what should have been a “joyful giving” as a “fundraiser”for the church.

When all was delivered, with our adult children and grandchildren, we left knowing it was our last year to participate and the last day as members of the the parish.

The last advent Project 003Sometimes growth and knowledge is painful but necessary. But for the first time in months, Larry & I are sleeping through the night, knowing we did the right thing.

So, the gate is open, coffee is fresh and bread is baking so stop in for a chat.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

  2. I am sorry that things turned out like that, but so glad that you put yourself out there to help those in the community who really needed it. We are trying so hard to remember the first real gift of Christmas, and to imitate it this year. Thanks for the reminder.

  3. Yes, growth and knowledge can be painful. I believe everything happens for a reason. Perhaps another door will open as this one closes.

Best Wishes to you and your family.

  5. Ahh Katie I am so sorry but so very glad I have a friend like you full of integrity and love, real love for others. I hope you can look back at the last 10 years with wonderful remembrances and gratitude. We found out that most times when you are blessing to others you are even more blessed yourself. Have a very Merry Christmas and hug every one of those blessings you have.

  6. What a heartbreaking decision to have to make. It is such a shame when those in "control" misuse their power. God Bless you in your next endeavor.

  9. So, I was going to comment that you certainly had a heartbreaking decision, That it is always difficult to take yourself away from a project that brought joy into your life. But, As I scrolled down to this box, I read Grammas comment. And now I can't say that. So, All I will say is you are a blessing to others in every endeavor you choose. I have only known you through these two electronic outlets, and I LOVE you.
Sorry you have had to break away from something you love, but God is going to use you, so keep your heart open for his next assignment.
Merry Christmas, May the LOVE of CHRIST keep you.
