I just finished and Listed  on Etsy a pair of Large Peace Fleece Shorties. These are knit in in the color way Balkal Superior Green !

Think DEEP ocean waters with touches of navy & black…

 

Peace Fleece…can you say that 5 times reallly fast?

What feels like a fine brillo pad when you first start using it becomes cotton puff cloud and softens even more with use.  Super tough and will take all the rough and tumble wear little dirt monkeys toddlers can give.  Moms call Peace fleece bullet proof!

It's Been a While....

Wow, I can’t believe how long it’s been. Every one is fine, little Evie is growing like crazy. I can see Erika in her eyes but other than that she is her Daddy all over again. Feet and all this child has huge feet, all arms & legs.
I was worried about her coming home sweater being to big so, I make another….still needs buttons but it fit. Again I used the Sweet Mama~Small Sugar Kimono pattern & the scraps of the first. I really liked using the GGH Tara. It is very easy to work with and holds its shape and most importantly super soft. Its classified as a chunky but I would place it closer to a worsted weight. I have yet to wash the either sweater but I understand it holds up very well.
They weekend after Evelyn was born Rachel, Adam & Hayden came for a visit & to inspect the new family member. Mr. Hayden is getting so tall! He has a twinkle of teasing or trouble in his eyes, he’s such a hoot always with a smile. I was so upset when after they left I realized I had not taken any photos.
There has been some knitting, a couple of pair of Sheepy Pants. Both have since sold and are either received or, on the way to the new owners.
The first was the completed pair in “Tropical Goodbye”

The second was a hand dyed of mine called “Playful”, a color fade. I think I have that down so I will be trying it again tomorrow, not sure what colors I’ll use but I'm sure I'll come up with something!

One thing I do want to clear up.......

Back in January I made a comment concerning "The Simple/Felix Sweater" A pattern designed and generously offered by "The Complete Fabrication." I said the sweater was a bit blah & needed embellished. I was referring to MY choice of yarn. The free pattern itself is wonderful, easy to follow & is sized correctly.

Color Play!

I don't know about you but I'm staying inside as much as possible. It's been averaging only about 12-15 degrees outside! Last night is was even colder. At least I'm getting some work done. Yesterday morning I finished the "Grass is always Greener" Sheepy Pants. I love the way the colors worked.

As a reward to myself for reaching a few knitting goals I

broke out the dye pot. I like looking at a variety mainstream clothing manufacturers for color ideas, see what is hot for the current or upcoming season. I have 4-5 done but here are 2 I have re skeined This first one I call
"Hayden" after my grandson.
Brown, Blues, Cream & Green, colors that look so good on him.
The second is "Playful." This was done from leftover dye. It just makes me ache for Spring, pots of flowers & digging in the dirt. I can't wait!

The Combination Red Longies are coming along. I've frogged (ugghh) them 2-3 times to adjust the colors pooling and I'm still not satisfied. I'm NOT starting over again. FROG is a 4 letter word ya know! They will have to stay the way they are.......someone will like them!

I finally figured out how to add the progress bars to WIP's. It's not everything but they will populate as I add them to Ravelry. Now to figure how to add the queue........

Its Not All Work At The Show

It's the last weekend of the show and things are winding down.

But its not all work. This kids "Fishing Booth is set up every year, and was always a big hit with our children. Isaiah has fished every year since he could hold a pole & this year was no different. Hes been patiently waiting allllll week.

In between rounds of straightening trailers I did accomplish some knitting.

I started a large pair of Sheepy Pants using one of my handdyed yarns "Wine & Roses," on Louet Riverstone. I've had this ready since this summer and have not had the opportunity to knit them up. I Love this yarn, It just sucks up the color and is super soft. I should have them completed tomorrow.

Gone Camping Sheepie Pants

Last night I completed the 2 tone Green Sheepy Pants. They lay on the table, just..... blank. I kept seeing camping.

It's not quite as I envisioned but, embellished with
Purple mountain range, & a sunny day camping by the lake. But what would be camping without a camp fire!














When I saw these in my dream last night there were a few other items but, I need to brush up on my embroidery skills.
I wont say how many years its been but, lets just say...awhile and leave it at that!

What Was your Knitting DUH! Moment?

This morning I started another pair of Sheepy Pants. I usually knit one leg then the other. This time with the color change I decided to try knitting both legs at once.
But, my yarn kept crossing over and tangling. I got a bit frustrated and stuffed on ball inside the leg out of the way.........HELLO! Light bulb went off...tuck the balls inside the legs!! No more tangles and its going much faster.
How silly is that, a simple thing that makes such a big difference! Bet it would work for knitting 2 socks at once also.
Everyone has little tricks or tips they have picked up along the way, what are some of yours?

Like a moth to the flame....I caved

Just like a moth to the flame.....I caved. Black Friday shopping. But, I Blame it on Ann the owner of our local Yarn shop the "Grinny Possum". She reeled me in like a fish on a hook. I had just finished sorting through all my wool for longies. Sorted out items that needed trim or contrast colors trying to be a bit more organized with my supplies. (If any family is reading this....you can stop laughing now!) Logged on Ravelry and saw a sale! 40%.......at 1:30AM! That, I could do! So, I picked up a BUNCH of solids for trim & some wonderfully soft Manos del Uruguay in Jungle Green I've been lusting after. Well really, I've drooled over it time and again. I just.....couldn't leave it there!
I been busy, started a bunch of dish cloths for the Etsy shop using cotton from Peaches n Cream & Sugar n cream.

And of course there are longies in the works. This will be a medium pair of Sheepy Pants. I'm using my colorway "Flamin Fun", I love how they are coming out.


The second pair is also a size medium using "Midnight" from Radiant Twist on Etsy. I just love her yarns, so soft and fluffy. Super to work with also

Turkey & Tesseract Longies!

Turkey sandwiches, turkey soup, turkey casserole, turkey & rice, how do I love the let me count the ways....... We LOVE Turkey,why do we always wait for the holidays to cook one. It is one of the economical meats/poultry there is.

I spent the day with family & a lot of laughter, cooking, eating, laughing eating, laughing, dishes, eating, and a bit more laughter. We had a wonderful day, how was yours?


I'm seriously trying to do a bit of knit from stash only. I have more un-dyed yarn coming and need to make room! So, I spent a relaxing afternoon knitting a pait of "Sheep Pants" I used "Tesseract" by Monkeypal from Etsy. Super soft and knits up nice and dense. It was one of 5 I bought early spring and forgot about. I striped it with Deep Teal Ashford tekapo. The photos look bluish but it is a deep Teal that matches perfectly with her colors. Started this morning and already have it listed in the Etsy store.

Butterfly Longies

The Butterfly longies are done. As much as I cant stand the finishing work I had to complete these. Once I started, I came up with about 30 different ideas for embellishment. The trouble was deciding which design I wanted! Of course I used the Sheepy Pants pattern size medium, using 100% merino wool.

On the way home from Indianapolis Thursday, Rachel called to tell me I left my 2nd knitting bag at her house. The bag that had my current project, the "High Meadow" longies. Shes putting them in the mail to me...........bummer.

Sheepy Yarn and WIP

Sunday on the way to Hayden's Birthday Party, I had a quick meet with Mandie from "Sheepy Time Knits" and found her to be as nice in person as she is to work with on line. Here are m new goodies from her. Some of her new Sheepy Yarn, "Water" & "Irises".

These photos do not do the colors justice, they are rich and vibrant, so squishy soft too. A great bargain in my mind!

I have been knitting, honest! A new pair of longies (what else!) started in my "High Meadow"

Its not showing very well but I'm using stitch markers from Mandies newest venture. These will fit up to size 10 needle, which is great as so many are designed for sock knitters using much smaller needles.

A semi finished item, Pink & Brown Longies, waiting for embellishment. Thinking flower with a dragonfly. What do you think?

I had a bit of the yarn left from the "Sticks the Water" sweater and made a pair of Best Booties to match

Starting another pair of Sheepy Pants, I'm telling you, they are addicting! Pink & brown ribbing, seat and legs brown with Pink cuffs. Not sure what style or how I will embellish this pair but I have a few thoughts. :)

Bums & Booties

Not much going on here but knitting!

I bought the license for "Sheepy Time Knits" just in time to make some "Bum Warmers" for Fall and Winter weather. I've been playing with wool ever since!

Dipped into my "Purewool" stash for some "Sheepy Pants," figured I earned it! I didn't realized I have been buying only one skein of each color, who does THAT! This pair of longies is a combination knit in the colorways "Mysterious" & "Chocolate" size medium & for sale in my Etsy store! ;)
Purewool is just so soft, I didn't want to put them down.

I used my hand dyed "Bahama Breeze" colorway for this next pair. Size small, colors of Melon Pink, dusty Purple & Turquoise. Super soft for baby's skin. It amazes me how breathable wool longies are. Knitting in the sunshine outside they are not to warm, knitting at night in the cool weather, they keep my hands warm. They will be wonderful to maintain a baby's body temperature. Just listed in my Etsy store. ;)

Another pair of Sheepy Pants, these are made of 100% Merino one of the softest for the smallest of babies. I used another of my own hand dye "After the Storm"
And, you guessed it, these are posted in my Etsy store ;).
These longies all come with draw strings for the waist in coordinated colors, I just did not have them threaded when I took photos.

And a few pair of "Best Booties", a custom order for Ashley. She is expecting a baby in about 4 weeks, congratulations! These are Black, to be sent with other pairs in Royal Blue & Chocolate to keep little toes warm.

Catching up & Test Knitting

Wow, Its almost been a week! I've been scrambling a bit trying to catch up.
First off, I've been test knitting for Mandie of "Sheepy Time Knits" The wonderful "Skirty" pattern she has for infants an toddlers had been released, modified for "Big Girls"! I have about 2 more inches and I'm done with the A-line skirt. I was off on my planning and did not get this completed prior to the reception but, will finish it today. I'll post a completed photo later today or tomorrow morning. I used Hobby Lobby "I Love This Yarn" as it needs to be washable and easy care. Pinks and Browns, popular colors this year. It was slated to be a Christmas gift for Hannah, my friend Johanna's daughter but I think she will receive this early!

After a year of making and selling Soakers, many have asked me for "Longies" (knitted wool pants.) The gusset always looked so fussy to me and I've avoided them. But, with the new baby coming (remember, power of Pink Prayer) I had to dive in and give them a try. Sure wish I had sooner! These are my first pair of "Sheepy Pants" from my hand dyed colorway, "Midnight Dreams" size small. Made of 100% Fisherman's wool.
The instructions are excellent! Mandie's written them just as if she was sitting next to you, giving step by step directions




Aren't they cute? Look at that gusset, no holes!

And, being the A.D.D. knitter I am,
Here is the second pair I started yesterday. Yes, its one reason the "Big Girl Skirty" is not finished. Shhh...Don't tell Mandie!

This time I'm using my hand dyed colorway "After the Storm". Color of the evening sky just before dusk, with flecks of lavender/purple. 100% Merino wool.

Both should be in my Etsy Shop in the next day or so. Stop in for a visit!





And the second reason the "Big Girl Skirt" is not completed.
After all the goings on of preparing for the reception I needed some fiber therapy....(sounds good right?)
I broke out the Koolaide and Easter egg dye & created "Flamin Fun". Here it is skeined from the dye pot







And here is is re skeined. I see "Longies" in its future but, I WILL complete the skirt before I cast on for these!
