Finishing up Friday!

It looks like today is for finishing a bunch of working projects!
First up is a custom order of 5 pair of booties for Heather. I'm working on the last pair which are Brown.
Its been nice using neutral colors, a change from the traditional Pink & Blue!
Also Completed a pair of large "SunRise Shorties", a fun unisex colorway, ready to be embellished. Just need to decide what I want to add.
I've been trying to use up a lot of the partial balls, leftover yarn. It's been fun seeing what combinations I can come up with.
This is using the remnants of Frogs N Snails, for a pair of small shorties.
Almost done, just need to finish the legs in Green & add the Brown Cuffs.

Also on the needles is a small pair of shorties made with 100%Purewool.
I love this for Newborns and smaller babies. Super soft & great colorways.

I should have these completed tonight. Everything else is already posted to Etsy!

The Kentucky Derby Festival Kickoff , Thunder Over Louisville, is tomorrow.
30 minutes of nonstop, chest pounding fireworks!
See you on the Riverfront!

Happy Rose is HAPPY!

Sewing is put on hold while waiting for size labels. I know me and if I start cutting things out they will get jumbled. I prefer assembly line sewing as it much less time consuming. So...I have to wait, forever it seem!
But, I grabbed the needles and cast on a pair of "Sheepy Time Knits" Shorties.
Using 3ply Purewool, ummmm wonderfully soft!
This color is "Happy Rose"...it sure is bright, cheerful & very Happy!
After high 60's for the past few weeks, this cold snap is Mother Natures way of saying...NaNa nu NaNa! I need the cheerful Spring Pink!
Sure glad I waited to plant those Pansies!

I've been going through the painful/time sucking task of recreating all of my files & folders.
All my photos, patterns purchased & free gone in a blink. At this point I think I would feel a great deal of satisfaction using my old laptop for target practice!

Longies & Great Dyers

It's beautiful outside! In the high 50's and maybe to hit 60! All the doors and windows are open for a few hours at least! Nice fresh air to blow out the winter stuffiness!
Time to start planning gardens and flowerbeds! I know Larry plans to work on the patio floor stones before it gets to hot. It's going to look great! Can't wait for summer BBQ's.

Last night I finished the current project. A pair of small STK Longies (of course) For these I used "Purewool" in the colorway "Combination Red". That is what the skein was marked anyway, as they are actually a pinky berry & coral. I'm not very happy with the way the colors pooled. No mater how I changed up my starting point they had the same design.

If you've never have a chance to use Purewool your missing out! It so soft, just perfect for newborns! I should have these posted to ETSY this afternoon.
A bit of baby Bumpette knitting, yes, another pair of stash longies....for these I'm finally using the Sheepy Time Knits yarn I bought from Mandy last summer. I'm not sure but she may have used Purewool for this also. Super soft and the colors just POP! It's killing me as she just had a HUGE restocking.....and I'm on a yarn diet.
And yet another pair...I received my order from Sarah at BabyLongLegs
This colorway is called Tree Hugger. The dyelot is a bit different than the last, a bit deeper but, I
love it. Aran BFL, thick and thirsty for the diaper set

This is such a horrible representation of the colors, they are so rich and vibrant. I would love to know how Sarah produces them....hint ...hint.
Here is the rest of the order, 2 for baby Bumpette and the Tree Hugger for a custom, its terrible but I don't remember the names of the other 2! I think I will save these for her next winter .wardrobe

Well, I have a date with the laundry room, it's breeding!

Let The Thaw Begin, with STK Longies!

I had a random skein of Plymouth Galway Chunky, it was one of those, ohhhh, I love those colors! Anyway its still pretty cold outside so this was my afternoon knit, STK Capri's for the Bumpette's summer wardrobe. Stash BUSTING!! The thaw has begun! I walked out to get the mail this afternoon and enjoyed some of God's art work! Beautiful, every thing looked as if it was encased in glass

The loud clunky cracking sound was wild. Think summer outside with ice cubes in your glass. That cracking sound? It was all around me, awesome.

The shaded areas will take a bit longer to thaw. It was one of those views you wish you could hold on to forever.....but have warmth!

Hope you find joy in your day!

Baby Bump & Ruffles

Baby Bump Longies! With ruffles! As they were for a newborn I just wanted a bit of a ruffle so I added a small eyelet row and then 2 rows of ruffle.
I love the way they turned out.
They look great with the t-shirts.
So small after knitting so many pair of medium & larges! Those little legs look just...well so tiny! Can't wait to use them. You will be sick of seeing photos! The Pink really pops in these. If it's a boy I'm not sure what we will do!
Power of PINK Prayer!

This is "Its a Jungle Out There", the 2nd colorway for the baby. I found the cutest pattern for a Kimono Jacket. Its by "Sweet Mama-Small Sugar" . She has some photo's of this knit up in various colors...love them all. Be sure and check out her site. You can also find her on Ravelry.
The thing that I love about it is, the cross over front is not short or low across the baby's body, and its SEAMLESS! (you know I just love seams). More of a double breasted Jacket! I can't wait to get started. I'm going to use the Sheepy time Knits pattern (of course) for the longies & this pattern for the Jacket. My plan is to use the deep Teal color for the main body. I'll use "It's a Jungle Out There" as trim on the sleeve, body & edging. Should have plenty left for a Baby Bump Hat also. This should work for a boy or a girl.
What do you think?

Starting the New Year Right, Bustin the Stash!

Starting out the New Year Right with a Finished Project!
So much for my plan of completing all the UFO'S!
I've got a touch of that sinus/chest creepin crud that's going around so we were party poopers and came home early last night.
I dug into my stash & cast on another pair of large Sheepy Shorties while waiting for the ball to drop and finished up this afternoon. Last spring I had purchased a hand dyed wool in the colorway "Space Journey" from "Wonderfully Made Stuff" on Etsy. Love Love Love the colorway. Perfect Space colors, black to light grey, purples, every shade of blue & touches of deep teal. Not quite heavy enough for longies & I did not have enough to double strand it....so, I picked up the deep teal and double stranded with that. Solid teal 2x2 rib waist.
The cuffs are a 3x3 double strand basket weave of "Space Journey", as is the tie.
4 sets of short rows. Super thick and thirsty & very soft for little legs.

So this evening I pulled out a skein of "The Blues" purchased from "Bare Sheep Yarn Company"
and cast on another pair. More stash busting. I want to clear some space so I can start dyeing more myself but, as big as my stash is now well.......I need to use some up.
What was I thinking when I bought all these single skeins? Some are just......So Pretty! Some times you just can't say no to a colorway!

A Few Finished Items

We have had the craziest past 10 days or so. If it needs plugged in, charged or hooked to the Internet, we've been sunk! The speaker on my cell phone went out and I needed another...Larry picked me up a "Rant". I love it or I'm sure I will once I learn how to use it. It only comes with a little booklet that tells you how to turn it on etc. You have to go online to look at the manual! I'm beginning to think I can program it for dishes and laundry if I can only learn how! I thought my computer was dying....our Internet services (again) was the problem. We've been having a ongoing battle with them for nearly a year. Service is so sporadic, zip right along and then .............nothing. This summer they decided to redo our cable lines, and put in commercial lines. Helped some but.......what is sad is I am able to connect to my neighbors just fine (and yes they know and said its o.k.!) So, I will continue to call the service provider every time it goes down, I'm done with nice.
The other day, my daughter e mailed me from work at 2PM. I received it at 3:30AM! I sent a nice e mail to Insight asking (insert sarcasm) how long it should take to receive e mails & when are they going to fix this. And please reply by phone as at this rate it would be March before I was able to read it! They came the next morning. Its doing it again today, so I e mailed again. Don't make me come down there!

So with all the time on hold, I was able to complete a few things that have been laying around for quite a while.
First up is the Sheepy Time Longies. I misjudged my yardage so they became Capri's. This colorway is called "Midnight" by Radiant Twist a wonderful yarnie on Etsy.

Sheepy Time Soaker size large in "Grove" another colorway by Radiant Twist. Nice thick soaker, would be fantastic for night time use.
Another Sheepy Time Soaker This one is also a large. This is one of the first colorways I dyed using Fisherman's wool. Great for day time use.

Both of the soaker body's have been done since early spring. I just needed to add the cuffs!
So, nice 2 inch cuffs have been added. And all 3 are listed in Etsy.
I'm trying to finish all the finishing work, no Fairies have shown up to sew seams or buttons. I have a few projects that will need to carry over to the new year but, my intent is to clean out the WIP bins & baskets. Frog or finish!

Arrival of Advent

It's been a crazy weekend. Ever met yourself coming and going?
Its Advent season and busy for us. We co-chair what we call the "Advent Project" In the sane vein as the "Angel Tree". We (the Parish) sponsor 50-60 families providing gifts and clothing for children, Turkey or Ham and all the trimmings but, also a pantry restock. Generally enough food for a week or two. We interview families to assess the need (sizes etc) Write up sponsor sheets. We break up the items needed, canned goods, staples, dairy, meat, This is where miracles happen......a parish family can sponsor a Advent family (no names listed) for any one section. Every one gives what they can. We've had phone calls of "I can't make it out to shop, can some one do that for me" or "I have a bunch of blankets I've been purchasing all year , which family's need them the most" or, a special hand shake that provides for the last items needed. Some how, there is always plenty. The items purchased are all brought to the church Friday night, and delivered Saturday. It's a Parish family affair. Parishioners and their family's load up the "gifts" for the Advent families and deliver them. No judgments, no "looks" just "Merry Christmas" & "God Bless". In a society of haves and have not's, its eye opening for the children
and teens. It's so heart warming to deliver. Not a "we did this for you" but a warm wonderful knowledge that you had a small part of a "Gift" a gift of love. So, the "Advent Project" is once again upon us, and as in years past we think, wow its been a tough year, people are struggling here and were asking them to give even more. And every year it works out with Plenty.

Raspberry Swirl, Night time knitting, a custom order for Cam.
Another custom for Cam.

"Flamin Fun" Longies (Sheepy Tim Knits of course) love the way these came out!

All my neck warmers on Etsy sold this weekend so, last night I stayed up and had quite a few completed to list today.

Isaiah lost his first tooth last week! Tonight the second came out, both on the bottom. It's a good thing too as the other set are already poking through!

Longies and Color Play

What Happened to Fall! Brrr, we had snow flurries! That's just to much weather too early! I'm staying inside with lots of projects. I had color withdrawal for a few weeks, so I pulled out the dye pots and here are the results.

"Cutie Pie" 100% wool super wash.
This will be a baby skirt using the Sheepy Time Knits pattern (without the soaker) & a Shrug.
Super fluffy and soft.

Here is is out of the dye bath,

and re-skeined

I love Purple and Teal mixed and, "Oh Baby" has plenty of both! I dyed this with Longies in mind. 100% Merino Wool.

"Frogs & Snails", 100% Merino wool, also to be Longies.

"Puppy Dog Tails" More Longies! This base yarn was a light oatmeal, I think it really took the colors well.

"Puppy Dog Tails" Unskeined

I think I'm so cold as we did not seem to have a transitional time, no build-up to the cold. That or I'm getting old.....I prefer to think it was a quick change!

"High Meadow" Longies

A couple of completed project to show for my hibernating
"Tide Pool Longies"

Both pair should be in the Etsy Store this evening.

I've been playing with the light tent Larry gave me for my birthday. I think I'm starting to get the hang of it!
