Being happy doesn't mean everything is perfect.

It's learning to look past life's imperfections

Yesterdays Fun Finds

Yesterday I had errands that took me from one side of Louisville to the other, with a few added stops in between. Fun stops, its gotten to the point I think my little car’s stopping at thrift stores on its own !

My oldest daughter Danielle loves “Tea Cups” so I’m always on the lookout for cheap good buys on them. This is what I found yesterday……for $1.00!

4H & fabric 007 I have yet to identify the pattern, so please give a holler if you know, however I did find a bit of information on the Colclough Company here. Dani as we call her, works as a residential therapist at a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Center for Adolescents and Children. Long shifts, lots of highs and lows. She has worked nights for quite a few years & finally just switched to days. She’s learning all about sunlight again! The cup is just a fun way to help celebrate her new hours.

One of my other stops was the fabric store. Well, I coupons..for 40 & 50 % off…I couldn’t let them go to waste!

Plus flannel was on SALE!

I picked up a few new boyish prints, could be PJ’s for Isaiah and diapers for another little man

max diapersFor our Diva Miss Evelyn I found this cute owl print pinwale corduroy…super soft, I’m think it will make a warm little pinafore for for this winter. I almost missed it then the bolt some how jumped into my cart……

No I didn’t think you’d believe it but it was just to cute to pass up.Owl cord Besides I still had my 50% off coupon to use and I couldn’t let it go to waste! Its my duty to help boost the economy!

Diaper, Dogs & Rain

What was the song we sang as kids...
Rain Rain Go AWAY!
Come again another day
We had more rain today...the pond is overflowing again,
mini rivers through the backyard
Had just enough sun this morning to take a few photos
A friend of ours is expecting baby number 3 in a few weeks & has decided to use cloth
So I've been making a few diapers & covers......
5 Covers from the quilting stash
See kids, it was worth keeping!
Some new flannel, some re purposed shirts...
The diaper with the hands is for Evie...
I should say Chris.
I'm waiting to give them this one till hes (gagging) changing a loaded diaper
and say
"May I give you a hand?"

The big brave dog turns to jelly when it storms.
Buddy's will crawl behind me if I'm at the kitchen table sewing,
this is his normal position at the first crack of thunder......

See the small empty corner of the chair?
That's my portion of the seat.
By backside is larger than that
by just a little bit.

Workin Wednesday!

Custom Order of 3 matching sets for "Mothers Day"
Blocked, bundled & ready to be packed & mailed.
Lisa, they will be on the way to you tomorrow morning!

After all the pink of late, the boy prints have been fun!
Just need to add the touch tape,
and call them done......
now where is that truck print.......

So, what did you do today?
Hope you found joy in what ever it is!

Whats Up Wednesday!

Lots of "stuff" goin on around here!
I haven't shown many projects lately, as I've been working on an order. 3sets of the Antropologie dish cloths.
They are done. I just have to package up.

I have on the needles a few pair of shorties, here is a sneak peak of "Grappel" & "Bliss".
I should finish these in the next few days.
Were going camping this weekend & rain is in the forecast, (of course)
so I'm sure I'll have plenty of knitting time!
And to fulfill the sewing addiction..........
A friend of ours is expecting baby #3 & has decided to go with cloth diapers.
She is more than willing to use recycled fabrics but.....
I just had to pick up a few new cute prints
Can you guess the gender?
Ahem....did you notice the wooly sheep? How about the camping flannel...what self respecting R.V. Dealers wife could/would pass that one up! Might even make a few for Evie from that one!

And a few solids for inside the dipes. Well, they were on sale.
I figure if you have to do a dirty job you might as well have fun with it!

So tell me, what are your plans for this fine day!
Hmmm....... wonder if I can move the table outside to sew!

Fabric + Sale = Crack

For years we have been using the slogan "Just say No!" Well, here is a example of why it doesn't work..
Just like a junkie...I have NO will power in a fabric store. Yesterday I drove past a shopping center with a fabric store, I saw the sign and.....O.K. Just keep on driving....paaaast the store ....you can do it.....remember, your re purposing fabrics...you have a lot at home...oh, well, you can get .....Just a few.....oh my gosh....it's on SALE! $2.49 a yard...Oh, MONKEYS! Erika & Chris like Monkeys!...and its all so cute....3-12 ft rows of flannel prints...(by now I'm positively drooling)..OK, so, just..... half a yard.......of a few...well, NOW you need coordinating solids for the inside..so, just a few of those.....well....... only as much as one cart can hold ......Fabric on sale...I cave.
So, I now have enough flannel to keep Evie in Diapers until shes potty trained or, 21.
Which ever comes first!
I spent most of today making diapers....so, its not all bad.

Bad Blogger! But, I've been Knitting and Sewing!

I know, I'm a bad blogger! It's been crazy hectic around here, Spring Fever possibly?

Little Evie (AKA Porky) is outgrowing her diapers. We had bought quite a Smalls from Candi thinking they would last a few months....Miss Porky is drinking 4-5 oz every 2-3 hours! Can you say over 10 lbs?!?! Needless to saw we've been making new diapers as fast as we can.
I need to make about a dozen more & a few covers this week. We are recycling quite a few flannel sheets and shirts but I just had to make some girly diapers...a girl just has to have her cute Stuff
We have been having beautiful Spring days. Larry & I like to have coffee or a glass of tea outside together when he gets home in the evening. Isaiah joined us the other night. It was getting cool so Mama said to get a hat on.....he couldn't decide which he was supposed to wear so he took the safe route and wore BOTH!! Such a GUY already!

I have some knitting completed. Not as much as I'd wish but, my needles never can keep up with my plans. Anyone else have that problem?
These are again BFL, I call this colorway "Sherbert"

Today, my best friend, my guide on, my rudder, my heart, my projaholic partner, the man of my dreams and I are celebrating a special Anniversary with a dinner date. Tell ya more tomorrow!

Your Using CLOTH!?

Your Using CLOTH!?!
I cant tell you how many times we have heard the past 2 weeks. Usually with a gasp tone of horror. Larry even rolled his eyes and shuddered at the thought. He just remembers the skimpy cheese cloth like flat folds & prefolds, (& possibly a diaper left soaking one to many times.)

Diapering has changed quite a bit in 23 years! These are not your Mama's Diapers! I looked at a lot of different styles, trying to narrow it down for Erika. We knew what ever diaper we chose would need to have the same ease of use as disposables for daycare and Chris. We decided to start with "fitteds", the same basic use as a disposable. How about velcro or snap closures?

We settled on "Mimas" a WAHM on Etsy & are so happy we did. She patiently answered our 101 questions , try's to provide prints of your choice & even offers a layaway program. In all honesty we chose her initially due to her prices, not wanting to spend a lot $ until we knew if they would like cloth. Well, I have to tell you, she should charge more. These are so well made & absorbent. Can you say cute, look at these prints! The pink taps fold over to cover the velcro in the wash.

Some of the cutest prints and covers.

I cant get over the savings we are already seeing. The biggest problem we have right now? Choosing which diaper to use!
